Development Boom in MexicoContract Magazine Contract furniture designer and manufacturer Allsteel Inc. has opened its newest showroom in Mexico City in alliance with dealer Biblomodel. The showroom provides Mexico’s growing design, real estate and corporate communities with a first-hand look at the company’s full breadth of creative and relevant workplace solutions.
Marco Molinari, Executive Vice President, HNI Corp., and President of HNI International (the division of HNI Corp. responsible for the sales of HNI brands outside of the United States), says, “Mexico City is the world’s second most populous city and the country’s economic, industrial and cultural center. International architectural firms and corporations, along with most major Mexican design firms and companies, all have operations in the city.
“New buildings are being constructed and existing ones updated. There is enormous opportunity to continue to grow and expand Allsteel’s presence in this market,” he adds.
The new 6,000-sq.-ft. Mexico City showroom was designed by architectural firm SPACE and built by GA&A, both of Mexico City. Keeping in line with the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, it was designed with LEED guidelines in mind.
The distinctive space includes a number of sustainability initiatives, including natural lighting and specially designed energy-saving blinds, special containers for trash division and recycling, segregated copy room with a stand-alone air filtration system to reduce employee exposure to related chemicals, and carpets with low VOC and off-gassing properties
